Yes, I have the "continue to expand if possible" box checked. Neither of the "delete after expanding" boxes is checked under the "expand archive" and "expanding encoded files" which are checked. I would assume this meant that the intermediate files would NOT be deleted.

In my case, I was decoding and expanding an name.sit.bin file that had been downloaded on a Windows box and moved to the Macintosh by disk (Orb cartridge) so neither IE nor Mozilla were involved in this file expansion.

Hello Phil6 and noldo66,

This is Peter Tempel, Support Lead. Please accept Aladdin Systems' most sincere apologies with regard to this bug. We thought it was fixed and it managed to slip through. The workaround you suggest is correct.

Basically, if you have no single quote characters as numerical separators in your OS X International > Numbers preferences, StuffIt Deluxe will not crash.

We intend to fix this issue to allow single quote characters as soon as possible; it is a top priority here. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

Peter Tempel
Support Lead

nagy,

I believe that the decompression engine may not always need to be creating temporary files in order to achieve complete expansion especially if the formats enclosing the files are simple and straightforward as are binhex and macbinary. But have you noticed that with the contextual menu or magic menu if you select your name.sit.bin file, you can remove the MacBinary encoding and get your name.sit file if you desire to have the .sit file for your records. I hope this helps you.

Thanks. I received advice of this update by email and downloaded it. When I started the installation (after I dug through all the files and EVENTUALLY found the installer icon), the process stops when it starts removing StuffitCM.plugin and I get a message saying "Sorry, the operation could not be completed due to a System error: (Access denied)."

Am I doing something wrong?

In reply to:

since i am in switzerland i had a ' (single quote) as a seperator for thousands. i just replaced that ' with a , and it won't crash anymore.

Thank you for figuring this out. I thought I'd have to search so long to find a fix, but after 2 minutes it works again.
