My 11 year old son's eMac was purchased in Sept. 2004 and began experiencing problems around November of 2005. It was willed to him by a deceased friend of mine, and I was unfamiliar with Macs, nor did I recieve any documentation as to wheither an extended service plan was purchased, so I'm stuck out. I haven't checked to see if the capacitator is leaking, but have run every test, check, etc possible that I could find to do online back when the problem began. All signs and symptoms are as described here tho, and we've been running it in safe mode since the problems began. Also-- since internet is disabled in safe mode (so I've read), what about ethernet so I could hook up the mac to my PC and pull the 14 gigs of music he has on there (speakers aren't detected in safe mode either)? Never used ethernet connection, networking, etc...so any info would help. Thanks.
