Hi there,

I´m using a MBP (latest) with a NEC Spectraview 2690. Plugged in using 10.5.1 - running 1920 x 1200 / 60 Hz via DVI. Fine.

After update to 10.5.2 the highest resolution 1440 x 900 and "Standard LCD".

What´s wrong?

I have precisely the same problem! Using an external via DVI that supports 1680 x 1050—it actually worked fine after the 10.5.2/video updates, but today, after a hard crash/reboot the resolutions above 1400 x 900 were missing. Re- detected displays, reset PRAM, rebooted and cleared caches...nothin'. Will try SMC reset later today. Also will try reinstall 10.5.2 combo.

Will report back here

I've the EXACT same problem... And i'll try to reinstall 10.5.2 combo.
The bug is in 10.5.2, because with 10.5.1 is all OK.

Please send me information on solution, if any...

Thanks

Believe it or not, the third suggestion in the article (boot with lid closed) actually worked for me. My MBP now sees the external display correctly.

Weee---iird.

The "reinstall" of combo 10.5.2 don't solve the problem.
I've try the boot in past time with top case closed, but the system crash with Black screen on boot...

I.ll try another one time with this solution, but, if you try a solution please post or email...

OK. It's OK with this solution.
The secret is to close the lid after the close with "reboot" option, but BEFORE the "Doing" of the reboot...

Now, the external monitor is recognized exactly Syncmaster, res. 1600x1200, before is a generic LCD Monitor, with maximum resolution of 1440x900

Excuse my english....

Thanks everyone

That sounds as if the "Mirror Display" option is turned on. If you fully boot with the lid open, are the two displays in Mirror Display mode? (both showing the menu bar)

Just as an out there idea, try turning Mirror Display on then off, or even on, then reboot, then off, then reboot.

Hi all: the "missing resolutions above 1440 x 900" issue was solved for me by resetting the SMC on my MBP 2.4GHz.

Hope this helps you all

Resetting the SMC did not do the job on my 2007 MBP (or the reset didn't work).

What did work was booting with the lid closed - you initiate a shutdown with restart, then close the lid and wait for the machine to boot. Once it's back up, open the lid, and things should be fine.

I don't know if this will last, though...

(10.5.2 seems to have introduced as many bugs as it fixed.)

Fix that works for me:

Reset the power system first. (Shutdown, unplug and remove battery, hold down Power button for 5 seconds, reconnect all).
On power up from that procedure, I also reset the RAM: (Apple-option-P-R).

Doing it in this order, together, fixes my monitor problem. Doing them individually does nothing.
