I continue to get the 0xE800002E error whenever I try to sync any App updates, regardless of the App. I have seen this issue listed for awhile in the Apple discussions, but have found no solution other then deleting the app and reinstalling. The easier way is to uncheck during a manual app sync and reselect, then sync agin, but the problem with either approach is that all previous app data is lost. The current v2.1 did nothing to correct this issue and I am surprised that i have seen nothing reported here on MacFixit to date.

Welcome to these Forums, pitti! \:D It would help a lot if you could provide some crucial data about the hardware (Mac, iPod, iPhone, etc.) you're talking about, plus the versions of the relevant software involved (OS, apps, etc.) in whatever it is you're trying to achieve.

That said, I suspect you're talking about an iPhone or perhaps an iPod touch. If true (specs please), you may have to update iTunes (and/or QuickTime) to a later or even the latest version (8.0 and 7.5.5 respectively). Errors of type 0xE80000XX are returned whenever the version of iTunes used is less than required by the hardware/firmware (iPod, iPhone) involved. You might want to check your gadget's User Manual for details on the minimally required supporting software versions.

I'm referring to an iPod Touch 30GB. I have the latest versions for iTunes (8.0) and Quick Time (7.5.5). I am also running the latest OS (10.5.5).

It appears that this is a rather widespread issue as reported in the Apple discussion groups as well.

I am using a 16GB iPhone with the latest software 2.1 and iTunes 8.0 I am getting the same exact error. I am using it on a Windows XP laptop and it's just getting really annoying. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and that didn't do anything. I've tried restoring the iPhone to factory settings and erasing all the iPhone/iTunes folders located on the computer (local settings, etc.) and I am still having the same problem. Any thoughts?

No further suggestions, yet. It looks like we're relegated to developments in the field, i.e., some smart users posting their findings here or at one of the other Apple/Mac troubleshooting sites. If any of you find something relevant elsewhere, we would appreciate an update here.
