I just bought a 2008 20" iMac off a guy. I discovered later he'd been inside and hadn't put the rear cover back on properly and some of the internal padding is now trapped. It's underneath the screen along the edge where the memory access door is, which is why I didn't see it at first.

So I'd like to sort that out but I also need to transport it and would therefore like to take the stand off. Is this possible?

Thanks for your help.

The stand is the very first part they put in the computer when assembling it, be sure you really need to take it off.

Exception being the new 24's that have a removable stand. (just the foot, not the inner mechanics)

To make sure we're talking about the same model, is this a white body imac or silver?
