After installing 10.4 everytime I close the lid of my laptop, I have to manually reconnect to my wireless LAN. I did not have this problem before upgarding and fiddling with the network setting does not solve it. Other than that, bravo Apple.

Make a new location setting for a wireless connection, from scratch, in the Network control panel.

next time you open your lid, before you connect to your lan open /system prefence/ network. Then highlight airport and click configure. Re-enter your password and your golden. now it will auto connect every time.

Now if someone can help with my problem that would be great.

"All applications crash when highlighting bonjour."

I have this problem but strangely, the steps above have not helped. Any other ideas?

After you create a new location in the Network control panel, you'll be able to set the AirPort setting of, "By default, join:" to, "Automatic." That selection won't be available for your previoulsy made location settings. That's why you need to create a new one. After you set the setting to "Automatic," you won't have to manually turn on AirPort anymore.

Lanny,

I was having the same issues and your procedure worked just fine for me.

Thanks,
Scott

Thank you very much. I was having this problem and creating a new location from scratch and configuring it with my password and stuff now works (it took 2 close/open lids to kick in though).
