Has anyone else experienced problems running DW 3.03 with 10.4.4.
Prior to and after upgrading to 10.4.4 repaired perms and ran DW from an external (no problems there, the external runs 10.3.9)
But running DW from my 10.4.4 volume gives problems.
Twice the program crashed at the end of the procedure (that is after writing the newly constructed directory) just before where you normally get the dialog to save or not save the report.

should have looked a bit further, it seems that QT is to blame for this

after examining the DiskWarrior 3.0.3 crash log (and without a lot of blah blah blah) the (DiskWarrior 3.0.3 + QuickTime 7.0.4 + OS Tiger (10.4.4)) fix is easy -

- quit DiskWarrior 3.0.3 -

- control click on DiskWarrior 3.0.3 and from the contextual menu select "Show Package Contents" -

- locate the "Complete.aiff" sound file - the path is: -
DiskWarrior 3.0.3.app -> Contents -> Resources -> Complete.aiff <-BINGO -

- rename the "Complete.aiff" sound file "Alert Complete.aiff" - then close ALL windows

Thanks for posting this, Tom. I haven't done it yet (and I downgraded to QT 7.0.3 because of the DW issue), but my main concern is: what does this fix do? Will it cause future problems with DW?

I'm not a programmer, so I can't interpret any of the logs or the name change that you suggested.

Tom, Many thanks for your post. Alas, I had been advising to uninstall QT 7.0.4, install QT 7.0.1 and then update that to 7.0.3.

Indeed you are most wise...

I haven't (yet) tried that fix mainly because, having ascertained that the crash happens AFTER the rebuild, it doesn't bother me. If you say the fix works I don't doubt you for a second, BUT why on earth the injunction to quit all apps? First of all you cannot quit ALL apps (launch Activity Monitor!), and altering the name of an aiff file in the bundle of one app cannot possibly affect or be affected by any other app. The only app that might need to be 'quitted' is the one being worked on, i.e. you should quit from DW before making the alteration. Have I misssed something, Tom?

Will certainly try that one, but the alert did sound, so that event was passed before DW came to it's knees.

Out of curiosity I thought I would try Tom's fix. It works. I made the alteration to the aiff (No, I didn't quit from Safari, Mail, Console, Terminal… or any of the apps I had running!). I transferred a file that I knew had a text encoding 'fault' onto a FW clone volume so that I knew that DW would find at least one thing to repair. Ran DW – Text Encoding fault duly reported – "Rebuild" – job completed, and no subsequent crash – I dismissed DW in the usual clean way. Thank you, Tom. (But do consider removing that one line from the instructions! )

Tom,

I took the liberty of sending your fix to Alsoft for their opinion. I'll post back when I get an answer.
