I have a reproducible issue that no one else seems to be talking about. Specifically my trouble is saving Quark 3 and 4 files into a Tiger Public folder FROM an OS 9 machine on the network. If you try to save them you get a "File or volume access denied. (-5000)" error. This breaks the Quark file. If you then try to open the Quark file you get a "Bad File Format. (77)" error. Note, it does not do it every single time on every single quark file, but it does do this the majority of the time. And it seems to be more likely to happen to Quark files that already reside IN the Public folder and are opened from the OS 9 machine - as opposed to creating a new Quark file on the OS 9 machine and doing a brand new Save As to the Tiger Public folder mounted on the OS 9 desktop.

This worked fine before Tiger. BTW, it still does it after the 10.4.1 update. Note: I have my Public folder set to read-write. I don't' use the Drop Box folder. This has worked fine since 10.1 I think. I just can't get it to work reliably in Tiger for Quark files. I don't know why it is specific to Quark files, but I've tried a gaggle of other programs and every thing else works okay. I have repaired permissions and Fixed OS 9 permissions on the Tiger eMac. I've rebooted etc. I put a clean install of Tiger on my 550 TiBook and it did the same thing. I have tried this from other Mac Os 9 machines on the network. Same thing.

I hope someone else is having the same trouble. Surely I'm not the only person with a mixed 9 and X network using Quark 3 and 4.

Addendum: I just tried connecting to the Tiger eMac by logging in with the administrator username and password, navigated to the Public folder, opened a Quark file, made some changes to it, did a Save, and got the same error.
